Birchwood is a high-quality self-catering apartment that sleeps 4-6 and is located in the beautiful village of Gairloch in the Scottish Highlands. It has been added to the original estate house to provide visitors with ideal accommodation while visiting this area of outstanding natural beauty. The house and apartment lie in an elevated position, affording spectacular views across the harbour towards the Isle of Skye in the distance. The owners are committed to the principles of Fair Trade and sustainability. As such, Fair Trade textiles/products have been used in the apartment wherever practicable. In addition, the apartment has been made as eco-friendly as possible (low energy lightbulbs/applicances, softwood furniture, recycling facilities etc). The grounds extend to almost two acres of woodland incorporating birch, alder, hazel, rowan and Scots Pine as well as rhododendron. Within the grounds an 'eco-lodge' has been built which guests are welcome to use to enjoy some peace, some lovely views and maybe some wine. In addition, guests have exclusive use of their own garden, which includes a patio, lawn and drying green. The garden has been fenced in to ensure that small children can play safely but the views across the harbour remain un-interrupted. The apartment is attached to the owners home but it is ensured that full privacy is afforded to all guests. There are several excellent bars/restaurants within walking distance of Birchwood as well as a gift-shop, café, Post Office and corner shop. Less than ˝ a mile away, there is a lovely beach and also a spectacularly located 9 hole golf course where day visitors are made welcome.
